The northern kingdom falls to Assyria. The southern kingdom follows into Babylonian exile. A few faithful kings — Hezekiah, Josiah — shine briefly, but the trajectory is downward. Second Kings is the cost of sustained disobedience, and a warning that patience has a limit.
